Mobile Money systems are safe, secure – MobileMoney LTD

Tamale, May 06, GNA – MobileMoney LTD (MoMo from MTN) has stated that recent social media posts suggesting that MTN systems were breached due to a cybersecurity issue and urging customers to remove their money are false and deceptive.

MobileMoney LTD stated to the Ghana News Agency, “We wish to confirm that this information is entirely false, inaccurate, and in certain cases, possibly intended to cause mischief.”

The assurance made to clients indicated that the cybersecurity breach did not affect the functionality or safety of the firm’s mobile banking services.

The statement read, “None of the customers have had their funds compromised due to the cybersecurity incident; our mobile money platform continues to be secure and safe, with customer assets fully protected.”

MobileMoney LTD was noted for implementing strong security measures and consistently overseeing the surroundings to boost system reliability.

The statement indicated, “The MoMo platform employs top-tier security protocols such as end-to-end encryption, multifactor authentication, and continuous surveillance for detecting and thwarting illicit actions.”

The statement continued, “Additionally, we work closely with regulatory bodies, cybersecurity specialists, and partnering organizations to maintain the strictest security measures.”

The statement acknowledged the worries raised by the telecom company’s clients and restated its dedication to ensuring the security of mobile banking transactions.

It encouraged clients and the general public to depend solely on the authorized sources provided by MobileMoney LTD and MTN Ghana for genuine and precise details.

“We would like to emphasize for our esteemed customers to stay alert and refrain from sharing confidential details such as passwords, PINs, and OTPs through telephone calls, texts, messages, or email communications,” the firm warned.
