Witchdoctor Defrauds Teacher of KSh 600K with Promise of Money Multiplication

  • A secondary school instructor was deceived out of KSh 600,930 by a self-proclaimed sorcerer who claimed they could increase his funds.

  • Teacher Edward Bihemo, persuaded by the witch doctor Edward Emmanuel, believed that making regular payments would result in increased wealth.

  • After exhausting all his personal savings in an attempt to increase his wealth, Bihemo realized he had nothing remaining for essential living expenses.

A secondary school educator from Mwanza, Tanzania, is pursuing legal action following a scam perpetrated by a traditional healer who defrauded him ofTZS 12,470,000 (approximately KSh 600,930).

Edward Bihemo was enticed by the sorcerer, known as Edward Emmanuel, who claimed he could increase wealth.

Motivated by his desire to increase his wealth, Bihemo provided the amount and was counseled to consistently add more funds to boost the miraculous growth and replication effect.

The Mwanza police respond to the scam incident.

The Mwanza police commissioner, Wilbroad Mutafungwa, stated that the two individuals reached an accord on April 18th.

He mentioned that Emmanuel was detained for fraudulently acquiring money from an innocent person under the pretense of increasing it.

Mutafungwa stated that the event occurred due to avarice and the wish to amass riches rapidly.

The police chief stated, “He tricked Bihemo by posing as a traditional healer and claimed he could magically make money grow. Believing this, the complainant handed over the funds, thinking that the sum would expand when left with him.”

The officer went on to say that Bihemo consistently increased the payments over an extended period until there was nothing remaining for his own needs and sustenance. As financial hardship grew severe, he turned to the witchdoctor hoping to recover his funds, but discovered too late that he had fallen victim to fraud.

Nonetheless, the witch doctor was arrested and is currently in police custody.

Social media users react to scam incident

The incident sparked mixed reactions online, with some blaming the teacher’s greed and others questioning the witch doctor’s practices.

Subiralema:

“That teacher is not fit to teach students. How can he give money to someone who hasn’t studied?”

Agnes Onesmo:

Frankly, law enforcement officials have their hands full. Instances such as these highlight how wealth is growing with absolutely no attempt at earning it legitimately.

Sarah Bulima:

If I were in his shoes, I would avoid getting involved with this individual. How come he isn’t utilizing his own judgment? As an educator, one would expect him to make better use of his intellect.

@ismailomary6961:

In my view, the witch doctor bears no responsibility in this matter; it is the teacher’s greed that has caused their ruin.

Meshack Mayenga:

This teacher claims to educate the children, yet he himself seems devoid of wisdom. I find no blame in the witch doctor. Actually, those who lack knowledge are the ones who face suffering. This scenario presents no grounds for conviction; I do not observe sufficient proof against the witch doctor.

Helen Daniel:

Wow, it appears that many people fail to grasp the extent of the dark arts’ power. The teacher has been misled due to his insufficient comprehension. Instead of holding him responsible, you’re accusing him while he himself is being controlled by dark forces.

Harsh Kirit:

The educator needs to be referred to Bugando C1 for mental health care. Despite being highly educated, his greed has led to his downfall.

Joseph Jackson:

That educator is misguided. He’s a learned fool—who could remain so uninformed despite education, employment, and falling prey to such deception? What lesson is he imparting to students today? Ten million shillings isn’t considered significant money. If it were up to me, I’d save it instead. It seems there truly are educated individuals, yet they end up being nothing more than simpletons.
