Should any player achieve a maximum break of 147 at the Crucible this year, they will receive an additional prize of £40,000.
Since the World Championship relocated to Sheffield in 1977, there have only been 15 maximum breaks recorded at the Crucible, making it a particularly uncommon achievement.
