Rotary Club of Lagos Island Launches New Biology Lab at Simpson Girls’ Senior Academy

To showcase their dedication to community support and excellence in education, the Rotary Club of Lagos Island has established a completely outfitted biology lab at the Girls Senior Academy Simpson School in Lagos.

This initiative represents yet another step forward for the organization as they work towards bolstering youth development and enhancing educational opportunities within underprivileged areas.

The recent inauguration event saw the participation of District Governor Femi Adenekan, Assistant Governor Osaro Ekomwereren, Club President Deeksha Hiranandani, along with Rotarians Sapna Khurana, Ravinder Sharma, and Jeetu Hira. Attendees also included school officials, pupils, representatives from the parents’ association, and individuals from the local community.

The updated lab includes contemporary facilities and educational resources designed to boost science teaching and stir up more enthusiasm for biology amongst learners.

At the event, Adenekan stated that this initiative closely aligns with one of Rotary International’s key areas of concentration: basic education and literacy. This emphasis aims to enhance access to high-quality education and provide ongoing learning possibilities for everyone.

The President of the Rotary Club of Lagos Island, Rotarian Deeksha Hiranandani, has played a crucial role in advancing this initiative. Her guidance, foresight, and steadfast devotion to service have been essential in turning this significant contribution into a tangible achievement. Additionally, special acknowledgment is owed to every member of the club, as their shared commitment and altruism exemplify the Rotary principle: “Service Above Self,” he stated.

He mentioned that through investment in the Biology laboratory, the club isn’t merely offering facilities; instead, they are igniting aspirations, fostering youthful intellects, and equipping future experts, executives, and innovators.

Mr. Ileyemi Lateef, representing the school administration, promised the club members that the institution would utilize the resource responsibly.

He stated, ‘With the support of Rotary, the girls at Girls Senior Academy can now explore the marvels of science through new windows, paving the way for a more promising future.’
