The Minister conveyed his appreciation to Dr. Hanan Bakhli for making two visits to Sudan amidst the conflict and for persistently supporting healthcare within the country. Additionally, he acknowledged her involvement in the side event about Sudan and commended her for delivering a speech advocating for the well-being of the Sudanese people.
The discussion focused on ways to increase healthcare financing for Sudan throughout the area, along with promoting rebuilding and recovery initiatives alongside allied nations and supportive organizations, notably the Gulf states.
The discussion also emphasized the significance of leveraging Sudanese medical professionals’ skills within Sudan and at the regional office for enhancing WHO’s efforts. Key areas include bolstering public health laboratories, managing epidemics and emergencies, and advancing polio vaccination initiatives. Additionally, plans were outlined to reactivate the Mycetoma Center so it can serve once again as both a national resource and an international hub, continuing its collaborative work with the World Health Organization.
