Nyamira Allocates $3 Million for Healthcare in 2025/26 Budget

In the upcoming fiscal year, Governor Amos Nyaribo announced that Nyamira County plans to invest Ksh300 million into its healthcare system to enhance service delivery.

This step is intended to enhance services throughout public hospitals.

During the funeral service for teacher Johnson Obanyi held at Esanige, Magwagwa Ward on Friday, May 23, 2025, the governor emphasized that healthcare is a top focus within his developmental plans.

He assured that the finances would guarantee every public health facility is adequately supplied with medications, medical devices, and essential resources.

“I have set aside KES 300 million for the upcoming fiscal year to guarantee that our healthcare facilities receive adequate medications and medical supplies,”Nyaribo stated, reinforcing his pledge to fulfill the commitments outlined in his platform.

He similarly encouraged locals to join the SHA program for access to cost-effective healthcare.

“I urge all residents of the county to sign up with SHA. Despite some hurdles, the system has been getting better, and we aim for our community to readily obtain care as our medical facilities become more well-equipped,” he noted.

Apart from healthcare, Governor Nyaribo mentioned that improving road infrastructure is also a key priority.

He mentioned that the Roads department was given a substantial increase in the forthcoming budget to enhance connections across all 20 districts.

“By November of this year, our aim is to finish constructing 15 kilometers of roads in every ward as part of Phase 1,” he stated, adding that the acquisition of machinery during the previous fiscal year will simplify future road upkeep.

Regarding education, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to providing scholarships for underprivileged yet talented students and revealed a fresh collaboration with the KCB Foundation.

As per the accord, a minimum of Sh130 million will be allocated to provide both skill development and financial assistance aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among young people and women.

Governor Nyaribo brushed aside criticisms from opposing politicians who allege he hasn’t accomplished much during his time in office, asserting that significant progress is being made in various crucial areas.

Several local leaders were present at the event, including members of his cabinet, ex-North Mugirango MP Joseph Kiangoi, and well-known advocate Dunstan Omari.
