By Michael Foli Jackidy

Ho (V/R), May 8, GNA – In an effort to boost digital education and improve teaching and research capabilities, Stanbic Bank Ghana has generously donated ICT equipment to the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) located in Ho.

The donations consist of 10 laptops, 20 tablets, one 85-inch smart TV, and a top-notch multifunctional video camera.

The donation was accepted by the university management headed by Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lydia Aziato.

Mr. Harry Opoku-Agyemang, the Head of Personal Banking at Stanbic Bank, led their team and emphasized the significance of technology in contemporary education.

He pointed out that the bank acknowledges technology as an essential instrument for revolutionizing educational provision, particularly within the framework of distance learning and online scholarly cooperation.

“In the current digital age, having access to technology is not merely a luxury but a requirement,” asserted Mr. Opoku-Agyemang.

This contribution showcases Stanbic Bank’s commitment to significantly supporting national progress beyond just financial services. Education, especially within health sciences, serves as a cornerstone for advancement, and we are delighted to assist UHAS in this endeavor.

He highlighted that the equipment would not just improve classroom education but also allow UHAS to link up with educational institutions worldwide for virtual classes and collaborative research initiatives.

“You no longer have to bring in lecturers from overseas; with appropriate resources, those instructors can teach from their own countries, allowing students in Ghana to enjoy top-notch education. This represents the future of learning, and we’re pleased to be a part of this,” he stated.

He similarly highlighted the importance of technological advancements in equipping local health workers with the skills needed to tackle intricate medical issues autonomously.

“It is vital that Ghana trains its own specialists, capable of carrying out advanced procedures, without relying heavily on foreign expertise. That is why investment in health education is close to our hearts as a bank.”

Mr. Opoku-Agyemang motivated the students to engage with the equipment using creativity and zeal, emphasizing that mere possession of technology is insufficient; discipline, ingenuity, and dedication are essential for achieving outstanding results.

Upon receiving the items, Vice Chancellor Professor Lydia Aziato warmly thanked Stanbic Bank for their generous donation and continued dedication to educational support.

She characterized the action as opportune and consistent with UHAS’s aim to take a leading role in healthcare instruction within the sub-region.

She seized this chance to urge the bank for additional cooperation in tackling several critical requirements at the university, such as infrastructure improvements, dormitory amenities, educational resources, and lab gear.

“We think this collaboration has the potential to become even more robust, allowing us to create an exceptional setting for educating the future cadre of health care experts,” Professor Aziato stated.

Ms. Yaa Amankwaa Opuni, the Registrar of UHAS, also expressed her gratitude to the bank and affirmed that the equipment would be utilized responsibly and properly maintained for its designated use.

This contribution represents a crucial move toward enhancing relationships between business entities and educational institutions, indicating a mutual dedication to fostering education and national progress via innovative investments in healthcare.
