Dangote Packaging Sets Record: Produces 52 Million Polypropylene Bags Monthly

Dangote Packaging Limited (DPL) intends to broaden its horizons by entering the African export sector after enhancing its production capabilities through the installation of new equipment at its two manufacturing facilities.

Mr. Robert Ade-OdiACHI, who serves as the Chairman of DPL’s Board of Directors, revealed this information at a recent strategic board meeting, as stated in an official announcement.

According to Daily Trust, polypropylene applications include plastic packaging, machine and equipment components, as well as fibers and textiles.

The chairman announced that the firm is boosting its output from 36 million to 52 million polypropylene bags each month and plans to further raise this number in the future.

Mr Ade-OdiACHI stated that ‘Given the rise in our production capabilities, DPL is now prepared to venture into markets throughout West, Central, and South Africa.’

‘Once domestic demand is met, it is only logical to channel our surplus to new territories. To this end, we have engaged an export team to lead the charge,’ he added.

He emphasized that the firm’s move into international markets would be supported by top-tier standards. “Our facility includes cutting-edge equipment, well-trained staff, and solid infrastructure,” he noted further. He also mentioned, “The excellence of our products stands out, all while maintaining attractive prices.”

Ade-Odiachi suggested considering potential trade incentives to expedite market entry into key export areas.

DPL’s growth is aligned with the broader objectives of the Dangote Group, matching the increasing needs within their expanding industrial sector. This boost in manufacturing capacity aims to strengthen the group’s internal logistics while establishing DPL as a leading force in regional packaging solutions.

Mr. Ade-OdiACHI stated that with our refinery and petrochemical facilities currently providing essential feedstocks, we have attained self-reliance, thereby strengthening our potential for sustained expansion over the long term.

At the meeting, Alhaji Mustapha Matawalle, who serves as the treasurer for the Dangote Group and is also a board member of DPL, highlighted the economic advantages associated with the expansion.

This isn’t merely about achieving market leadership and generating income,” he stated. “It’s also about fostering employment opportunities and enhancing Nigeria’s foreign exchange earnings via export activities.

He additionally praised DPL’s dedication to maintaining high Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) standards, pointing out that their operations continue to meet all regulatory requirements.
