RTO-1 Cracks Down on PoS Violations: 3 Outlets Shut Down

The Federal Board of Revenue’s Regional Tax Office-1 (RTO-1) has intensified efforts against non-compliance with the Point of Sale (PoS) regulations, resulting in the closure of three establishments on Friday for failing to integrate their systems with FBR’s PoS Invoicing System. According to an official statement obtained here, RTO-1 personnel initiated operations at Stadium Road where they shut down a tile and sanitaryware store found disconnected from the FBR’s PoS invoicing framework.
In another operation conducted simultaneously in the Saddar district, authorities also closed down a shop selling branded timepieces due to similar issues regarding invoice integration into the FBR’s digital platform. These closures came about following inspections carried out under Section 150-ZEO of the Sales Tax Rules 2006, which mandates all commercial entities must ensure seamless connectivity between their billing mechanisms and the national tax authority’s electronic invoicing infrastructure.

During the third operation, tax authorities closed down another store specializing in tiles and sanitation equipment located on Stadium Road for the second occasion due to its disconnection from the Point of Sale (PoS) system. In his statement, Chief Commissioner RTO-1 Dr. Faheem Mohammad emphasized that continuous efforts were underway to track down individuals who evade taxes, with measures implemented to enforce PoS regulations. He highlighted the importance of eliminating tax avoidance as crucial for achieving economic stability.
