Indian Missile Strike Hits Terror Targets; Pakistan’s Deputy PM Deems It an “Act of War”

Islamabad [Pakistan], May 7 (ANI): Shortly after Indian missile strikes targets 9 key sites linked to terror groups deep inside Pakistan, the Pakistani side has described the strike as an ‘act of war’.

On Wednesday, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar asserted that his country retains the right to respond in compliance with international law.

Dar stated in a post made on X (previously known as Twitter) that this was an unprovoked and clear act of aggression where the Indian Air Force, staying within Indian territory, used stand-off weaponry to violate Pakistan’s sovereignty. They targeted civilians in areas like Muridke and Bahawalpur near the international border, as well as in Kotli and Muzaffarabad, located in Jammu and Kashmir along the Line of Control.

“The aggressive move has significantly endangered civilian aviation as well. We firmly denounce India’s actions, as they contravene the principles of the UN Charter, international law, and accepted standards of interstate conduct,” he stated additionally.

Dar’s statement follows confirmation from the Pakistani military that Indian missile strikes hit Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and the Ahmed East area of Bahawalpur. Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, “All of our air force jets are airborne, Pakistan will respond to this at a time and place of its own choosing.”

The Defense Ministry of India verified that these attacks were part of “Operation Sindoor,” aimed at nine militant training centers in Pakistan and Pakistan-controlled Jammu and Kashmir. They asserted, “Our operations have been precise, controlled, and restrained, avoiding escalation. We did not target any Pakistani military installations.” This action came as retaliation for the brutal Pahalgam terror strike, where 25 Indians and one Nepalese individual lost their lives.

US President Donald Trump also responded to reports of Indian missile strikes inside Pakistani territory, saying that the development was expected and urging a swift end to hostilities.

“As we entered the Oval Office, we merely caught wind of it. It seems like some individuals had an inkling that this might occur due to previous events. This has been ongoing strife lasting numerous decades. In fact, when considering history, it stretches back several centuries. I trust it will be resolved swiftly,” Trump stated.

The US State Department also acknowledged the situation but refrained from offering an immediate assessment. (ANI)
