Customs Chiefs Meet at UNIFEMGA 2025 Reunion to Tackle Cross-Border Trade and Security

The Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, will be delivering the keynote address at the 2025 iteration of the annual nationwide gathering for alumni of Obafemi Awolowo University’s Muslim Graduate association (UNIFEMGA) scheduled for this coming Saturday.

The discussion on cross-border trade and security will be led by Adeniyi during the conference set to occur at the Oduduwa Hall of Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife.

The statement, which was co-signed by Planning Committee Chairman Professor Sirajudeen Obayopo and Public Relations Officer (PRO) Ibrahim Fagbenro, indicated that Alhaji Adeniyi, an alumna of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), will address the subject matter titled ‘Impact of Cross-Border Commerce and Its Security Effects on Nigeria’s Economy: Leveraging Worldwide Trade Trends’.

As stated, the three-day conference taking place from today Friday until Sunday offers an extensive lineup of events designed to promote intellectual discussion, professional connections, and community involvement.

The anticipated event will feature several distinguished guests: Governor Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke from Osun State will attend as the special guest of honor; King Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, known as the Ooni of Ife, will come as the ceremonial head for the day; Dr Muritadha Adeyemi Adeniji, who serves as the MD of both Starling Global and Ideal Limited, will chair the function; and Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, serving as the Vice-Chancellor at OAU, will act as the host.

Other attendees anticipated for the reunion comprise Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN—Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin; Professor Wahab Egbewole, SAN—who also serves as Vice-Chancellor of the same institution; Professor Musa Aibinu—the Vice-Chancellor of Summit University in Offa; along with Professor Akeem Lasisi, who holds the position of Vice-Chancellor at the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun (FUHSI).

The announcement stated that the conference would begin with a Friday prayer service conducted by the Chief Imam of OAU, Professor Abubakar Sanusi. This would be succeeded by a visit to pay respects to the Vice Chancellor of the university, along with an evening networking event known as the UNIFEMGA Investors Forum 2.0. The forum will be organized under the chairmanship of the Board of Trustees for this association and the Pro-Chancellor of Summit University in Offa, Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti.

The UNIFEMGA Investors’ Forum is also among the planned events, providing entrepreneurs with an opportunity to present their business ideas to possible investors.

“The reunion activities will feature a welcome reception for all delegates, a student’s picnic, the distribution of scholarship awards, an Annual General Meeting, a student empowerment program, fitness exercises, and friendly competitions between different branches,” according to the statement.

Alhaji Mohammed Buari, the National President of UNIFEMGA, highlighted during the reunion’s reflection how well-timed it was with the beginning of his term. He expressed hopefulness that every delegate will thoroughly enjoy the upcoming conference.

“Featuring more than 300 registrants, encompassing participants from the Diaspora, the 2025 national reunion conference aims to convene thinkers dedicated to advancement and cohesion,” the announcement noted.
