Mahama Appoints Trade Minister as Head of Delegation for GEC 2025

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, who serves as the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, to represent him and head Ghana’s high-level delegation at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) 2025. This event will be held in Indiana, USA, from June 2nd to 5th, 2025.

The 2025 GEC is hosted by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) under the auspices of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, and will bring together thousands of entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors, and innovation leaders from over 200 countries.

The Congress seeks to hasten innovative concepts, boost economic development, and enhance worldwide prosperity via entrepreneurial efforts.

The GEC stands as the global top-level conference that brings together various sectors with the primary aim of supporting startups and expanding innovation ecosystems worldwide.

Past host cities have included Dubai, Istanbul, Johannesburg, Kansas City, Milan, and Rio de Janeiro. Indianapolis becomes the second U.S. city to host since the Congress’s inception in 2009.

The theme for 2025, “Boldness Reshapes the Globe,” highlights the impact of entrepreneurial spirit in driving change worldwide.

“I think President Mahama’s choice to appoint Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare highlights Ghana’s firm dedication to fostering entrepreneurship and promoting private-sector-driven development as key elements of its strategy for transforming the economy,” stated Stephen Gyasi-Kwaw, the Country Founder of GEN-Ghana.

The Minister is anticipated to take part in the GEC Ministerial Summit and will be involved in key bilateral meetings, investment forums, and high-level discussions aimed at promoting innovation and fostering job creation.

The team from Ghana will consist of members from the government, private industry, entities supporting entrepreneurs, and individuals from the Ghanaian diaspora. Their mission includes highlighting Ghana’s potential for investments, advancing innovative ideas in agriculture-related businesses, and seeking fresh collaborations aimed at fostering broad-based economic development.

Engagement in GEC Indiana supports Ghana’s global economic diplomacy efforts aimed at enhancing its startup environment, developing the capabilities of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and reinforcing international public-private collaborations.
