Opf And Idc Partner To Ease Expat Lives: New Mou Aims For Family-Friendly Support

On May 9, Pakistan witnessed an important step forward in cooperation between government bodies and private entities as the Overseas Pakistani Foundation (OPF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Islamabad Diagnostic Center (IDC). This event drew notable attendees such as Mr. Syed Qamar Raza, Chairperson of the OPF’s Board of Governors, along with Col. (Retd.) Muhammad Siddique, who serves as the Director of Operations & Human Resources at IDC. Representatives from both institutions were present, highlighting their joint dedication to enhancing support for expatriate Pakistanis and their loved ones.

During his speech, Chairman OPF Syed Qamar Raza conveyed his satisfaction over establishing an agreement designed to improve healthcare availability for expatriate Pakistanis. He highlighted that this Memorandum of Understanding represents more than just symbolism; it marks a tangible advancement toward achieving OPF’s commitment to aiding the Pakistani community abroad. Additionally, he stressed that providing high-quality, cost-effective medical care lies at the heart of OPF’s efforts aimed at enhancing the overall health and welfare of both overseas Pakistanis and their families.

Colonel (Retired) Muhammad Siddique, who serves as the Director of Operations and Human Resources at IDC, expressed his appreciation towards the OPF leadership. He specifically thanked Dr. Rizwan Uppal, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IDC, for taking the lead in offering reduced-cost medical care to Pakistani expatriates. Additionally, he emphasized IDC’s commitment through their Corporate Social Responsibility program with the Road Safety Initiative. This scheme provides up to PKR 500,000 worth of complimentary hospital stays across more than four hundred participating facilities throughout the country for enrolled IDC members injured in traffic incidents—a significant contribution toward enhancing community wellness efforts.

As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Pakistani expatriates and their close relatives will be eligible for reduced-cost medical care at all IDC centers across Pakistan. In order to implement this, IDC has created a special category known as “Members of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (Cash Panel).” Each branch of IDC has been directed to provide this benefit to OPF members along with their beneficiaries—spouses, offspring, and parents—who must present an OPF membership card, a seal from the Protectorate Office, and appropriate documentation verifying their familial connection like an FRC, CNIC, or NICOP provided by NADRA.

This effort underscores OPF’s steadfast commitment to aiding Pakistani expatriates and illustrates the significant advantages that can result from robust collaborations between government bodies and private enterprises.
