PS Raymond Omollo has expressed concerns regarding student dropout rates

As reported separately, Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo advocated for enhanced cooperation among parents, educators, and community leaders to tackle the increasing rate of students leaving schools prematurely.

The PS expressed concern that drugs, lack of parental supervision, and economic hardship were the key drivers of dropout rates, particularly in arid and semi-arid counties.

According to a 2023 study conducted by the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (FLANA), the rate of students leaving schools prematurely between the ages of 6 and 15 rose from 7.5% in 2021 to 8.5% in 2023.
