Africa’S Biggest Ai-Powered Security Hub Opens In Accra

Ghana has made significant progress in combating cyber threats by launching Africa’s biggest and most sophisticated AI-managed security and digital forensics center in Accra.

The cutting-edge facility, set up by the local company Virtual InfoSec Africa Limited (VIA) in collaboration with Exabeam, seeks to transform how African enterprises tackle cybersecurity issues. It does so by substantially lowering expenses while simultaneously boosting protective measures.

The AI-powered center will reduce initial investment costs for businesses by more than 90 percent and lower operational expenses by around 50 percent, providing significant respite to organizations struggling with escalating cybersecurity expenditures.

At the launch event, the Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), Divine Selase Agbeti, highlighted through a statement read on his behalf, the urgent requirement for improved cybersecurity strategies due to changing threat landscapes.

“As a country, our strength lies not only in keeping up with these challenges but surpassing them,” stated Mr. Agbeti in an address delivered by Isaac Socrates Mensah, a senior manager at CSA, on his behalf.

“The threat environment is changing rapidly, and we must develop resilience just as quickly since it exceeds anything we’ve encountered before,” stated the chief of the nation’s cybersecurity oversight body during the launch event hosted by the New Juabeng Traditional Area Omanhene, Nana Kwaku Boateng III.

The recently unveiled security center leverages sophisticated AI technology and boasts comprehensive global threat intelligence features. This initiative stems from strategic collaborations involving VIA, such as partnerships with leading SIEM provider Exabeam and Arctic Security, enabling the local firm to offer state-of-the-art safeguards customized for businesses in Ghana and across Africa.

The AI-run center will operate locally and feature an AI-enhanced Security Operations Center (SOC). This SOC will include real-time threat detection, managed detection and response (MDR), as well as vulnerability management—all powered by Exabeam’s behavioral analytics technology.

Sophisticated threats

Norvisi Addo, who leads security operations at VIA, mentioned that cyber threats have grown more advanced and focused, impacting not only crucial national infrastructure but also smaller enterprises with greater frequency.

Mr. Addo pointed out that conventional defense strategies are becoming outdated, highlighting an immediate requirement for cutting-edge solutions such as those provided by the newly established center.

The AI-powered facility aims to revolutionize cybersecurity strategies by significantly lowering expenses while improving protective measures. According to VIA, organizations using the center’s services could anticipate cutting their cybersecurity spending by more than 90 percent due to the avoidance of perorangan upfront capital outlays.

Moreover, operational expenses are expected to drop by over 60 percent, which could make strong cyber security available to a wider array of companies—potentially lessening threats and assaults against both businesses and their clients.

Mr. Addo specifically highlighted the increasing danger presented by artificial intelligence when it falls into the hands of cyber attackers.

“Regardless of whether we welcome it or not, AI is here to remain and it clearly affects our domain; particularly when it falls into the hands of cyber attackers. This makes the current initiative quite timely,” he noted.

Commendation

The Omanhene of the New Juabeng Traditional Area praised VIA for its dedication to safeguarding Ghana’s digital future.

He advocated for a cooperative strategy towards cybersecurity that goes further than just technology-based fixes and includes partnerships.

“Safeguarding the digital realm necessitates more than mere tools; it calls for a unified objective, collective accountability, and sustainable progress through knowledge and innovation,” stated Nana Boateng III.

“Let’s keep collaborating—government, private sector, traditional leaders, and young people—to make sure that the digital transformation we adopt is both inclusive and secure,” emphasized the Omanhene.

Additional benefits

Essam Ahmed, who serves as the Regional Director for Africa and Pakistan at Exabeam, stated that VIA is not just considered a supplier but is regarded as a strategic partner for Ghana within the region.

“We’re not focused on selling; our mission is to support the country. We’re working together to construct the digital defense of a nation,” he declared.

The introduction of this AI-powered center is anticipated to greatly enhance Ghana’s cybersecurity measures, simultaneously offering a blueprint for other African countries grappling with comparable digital security issues.

Through offering sophisticated cybersecurity solutions at lower costs and greater accessibility, this AI-powered center seeks to establish a safer online space for enterprises, governmental organizations, and residents throughout Ghana and the wider African region.
