As per his doctor’s orders, Billy is engaging in particular physiotherapy sessions and has been instructed not to participate in performances until he recovers.
Alongside his statement, Joel remarked, “I genuinely regret letting down our viewers, and I appreciate your comprehension.”
In March, the singer behind “The Piano Man” and “Uptown Girl” revealed that he had undergone surgery and needed physiotherapy. At the time, a statement indicated that doctors anticipated his complete recuperation.
It remains uncertain whether his health problems back then were connected to Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus.
This condition can lead to difficulties in walking, controlling the bladder, and cognitive functions, with symptoms becoming more severe if not addressed.
It is quite uncommon and may pose challenges for diagnosis.
The condition can be effectively addressed through surgery to insert a drainage tube for removing extra fluids. In conjunction with this surgical intervention, patients might also require physical therapy.
Joel, who turned 76, concluded his ten-year run of performances at Madison Square Garden in July 2024 and has since kept up with touring activities.
The scheduled summertime performances were set for Yankee Stadium and Citi Field in New York, as well as MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
All tickets for the performances will be reimbursed.
