Washington [US], May 7 (ANI): On Wednesday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that he is carefully tracking the developments between India and Pakistan after Indian missiles targeted several locations within Pakistan.
Rubio stated in a post made on X (previously known as Twitter), “I am carefully tracking the developments between India and Pakistan. My sentiments align with those expressed by President Trump earlier today, hoping for a swift conclusion and continued involvement with both Indian and Pakistani leaders aimed at achieving a peaceful settlement.”
Following President Donald Trump’s comments, he also addressed the recent developments regarding the Indian strikes. Earlier in the day, Trump had mentioned acknowledging these reports and voiced his hope that the situation would defuse rapidly. “Just learned about this as we walked into the Oval Office; apparently, everyone suspected some action might be taken considering their history,” Trump stated. He went on to say, “They’ve been at odds with each other for quite some time—decades even—and perhaps longer when you consider how far back their conflicts go. My wish is for an immediate resolution.”
The U.S. State Department likewise commented on the circumstances but chose not to provide a comprehensive evaluation. A representative informed ANI, “While we are cognizant of these reports, we do not currently have an assessment to share. The situation continues to develop, and we are actively keeping track of new information.”
Earlier, US President Donald Trump responded to reports of the Indian missile strikes inside Pakistani territory, saying that the development was expected and urged a swift end to hostilities.
“As we entered the Oval Office, we just got wind of it. It seems like people had an inkling that something might occur due to certain events from earlier times. This has been ongoing strife for quite some time—decades upon decades, really, when you consider the broader history. I sincerely hope this gets resolved swiftly,” Trump stated.
These remarks follow India’s operations as part of “Operation Sindoor,” which struck nine terrorist camps located in both Pakistan and Pakistan-controlled Jammu and Kashmir. According to statements from India’s Ministry of Defence, this operation directly addressed the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 25 Indians and one Nepalese perorangan. The ministry clarified that their approach has remained precise, controlled, and restrained, emphasizing that they did not sasaran any Pakistani military installations.
The Indian Armed Forces carried out a successful operation, hitting nine terrorist locations. Four of these were in Pakistan, specifically in areas like Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot. Additionally, they targeted five sites in Pakistan-controlled Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) with precise ordinance as part of their coordinated strike, according to reports from ANI.
The joint effort for this mission included the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, deploying their resources and personnel. According to reports from reliable sources shared with ANI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi kept close watch over Operation Sindood through the night. Additionally, these sources stated that all nine targeted sites were successfully struck. It has been disclosed that Indian military units pinpointed key figures associated with JeM and LeT, who have facilitated terror acts against India, as primary objectives. (ANI)
