Customs And A-Gf Team Up: Boost Revenue, Elevate Officer Pelatihan

The Nigeria Customs Service intends to bolster its partnership with the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation to increase national revenues even more and improve the pembinaan of its personnel.

Following reports of a substantial rise in the Service’s income, this initiative has been launched.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, welcomed the Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamsudeen Ogunjimi, who paid a courtesy call at the Customs House located in Maitama, Abuja, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

During his visit, Adeniyi highlighted the essential function of the Accountant-General’s office in managing national revenues.

He characterized the trip as “a well-timed, symbolic, and noteworthy step toward strengthening financial cooperation between the two governmental bodies.”

In a post made on the official Twitter account of Customs, now designated as X, on Saturday, CGC Adeniyi recognized the economic difficulties confronting the country, with an emphasis on issues related to public revenue collection.

He confirmed to the AGF that the NCS is dedicated to tackling these issues via strategic innovations and operational discipline.

“The importance of revenue generation in this nation has been highlighted, and we are making every effort from our end,” the CGC noted.

He emphasized the Service’s recent achievements, stating, “Given that the Service managed to boost its revenues by more than 70% prior to reaching the end of 2024, this underscores our commitment to aiding the government’s fiscal steadiness.”

The CGC likewise expressed their congratulations to Ogunjimi upon his appointment and praised his forward-thinking strategy towards enhancing cooperation between different agencies.

In response to the AGF’s suggestion for a collaborative pembinaan initiative involving personnel from both entities, Adeniyi expressed his approval. He assured the organization of their backing, emphasizing that this would aid in developing capabilities and fostering better teamwork.

The Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamsudeen Ogunjimi, thanked the NCS leadership for their welcoming gesture. He commented that he was “pleased to observe the proactive and strategic approach demonstrated by the CGC.”

This partnership has only just begun, and I can confirm that it will be comprehensive,” stated AGF Ogunjimi. Additionally, he suggested, “I would like to propose that we invite some of your personnel to join us at our offices for training sessions aimed at enhancing mutual agency comprehension and collaboration.

Ogunjimi reiterated his commitment to enhancing collaborative ties within institutions.

He stressed that this will enhance accountability, transparency, and strengthen capabilities within Nigeria’s system of public finance management.
