The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote has promised to commit the sum of N15 billion to execute projects that will put Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil on the front pew of world-class citadels of higher learning within the next five years of his tenure as Chancellor of the university.
Dangote made the promise after he was formally installed as the Chancellor of the Kano state-owned university by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Saturday,
In his acceptance speech, Dangote commended the university’s founder, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, and vowed to do everything possible to help the institution thrive even more.
He promised to commit the sum of N15 billion to execute several projects that will put the university on the front pew of world-class citadels of higher learning within the next five years of his tenure as Chancellor of the university.
The business mogul who is also the richest man in Africa, promised to offer employment opportunities to the graduating students of the university within his business conglomerates.
During the fifth joint convocation ceremony of the university, Governor Yusuf emphasized that Dangote should leverage his extensive knowledge and skills to elevate the institution to new levels.
Governor Yusuf also urged Dangote to, “uphold and preserve all the laws, statutes, customs, liberties and privileges of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Kano state faithfully, devoid of partiality and without fear or favour.”
The Governor urged Dangote to carry out all the duties of the chancellor at the university boldly and impartially, emphasizing that this position holds the top rank within the institution of higher education.
Notable individuals awarded with Honorary Doctorate degrees from the institution encompass: Katsina-born entrepreneur, Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, conferred as an Honorary Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa); and Igbo business tycoon, Prince Arthur Ikpechuku Eze, also honored with an Honorary Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa).
The others include: Dr. Ahmed Adeniyu Raji (SAN), who received an honorary doctorate in law; Alhaji Mustapha Ado Muhammad, awarded an honorary doctorate in business administration; as well as former Kano State Governor and university founder, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.
Approximately 18,000 students across seven batches were awarded their bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree certificates at the convocation ceremony.
