LG Electronics Nigeria has launched a solar-driven borehole in the Illah community within the Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State. They commend this initiative as an answer to long-standing water shortages and related health issues faced by locals.
As per an official announcement, LG implemented this undertaking as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility acara aimed at providing access to purified and secure water through solar power. This effort signifies progress toward enhancing living standards within the local population.
This marks an extraordinary moment for our community,” stated Paul Udu from the Illah Palace. “We have been praying for assistance for many years. Today, the LG has responded. As a result, our children will be able to access clean drinking water, our women can take respite, and our entire population can lead more wholesome lives.
The firm states that this eco-friendly plant utilizes high-efficiency photovoltaic panels powered by the sun, along with stainless steel submersible pumps and filtration systems, guaranteeing that the treated water complies with World Health Organization guidelines.
LG mentioned that the system is crafted for sustainability, imposing no operational expenses on the community.
Paul Mba, who serves as the Corporate Marketing Manager at LG Electronics Nigeria, emphasized that the company operates with the principle that “technology should be both innovative and empathetic.”
We take pride in providing more than just water; we offer a sustainable solution fueled by the very sun shining upon all Nigerians,” said Mba. “Today, our celebration goes beyond a simple borehole; it represents renewed hope, improved health, and preserved dignity.
The firm states that people in Illah have traditionally depended on unreliable water supplies. Many households send their kids to collect water rather than attend classes, whereas others grapple with health issues such as cholera and typhoid caused by contaminated water.
The President-General of the Illah Development Union of Nigeria Worldwide, Anthony Nwegbu, expressed his appreciation for the initiative, saying, “This well is a legacy for our children and their descendants. Our gratitude runs deep, and we hope that more organizations will emulate LG’s exemplary lead.”
In the meantime, Moses Osime, who serves as the Public Relations and CSR Manager at LG Electronics Nigeria, highlighted that the company aims to be recognized not only for its electronic products but also for making a significant difference.
We don’t just want to be visible in showrooms and stores,” he stated. “Our presence should be experienced in classrooms, healthcare facilities, and more importantly, in each glass of purified water served in Illah.
The event was attended by Fadi Skaf, the manager of Fouani Nigeria Ltd Asaba Branch; Eugene Okondor, a community leader; Celestine Obiokala, the Secretary-General of IDUN; Anthony Wajama, the Publicity Secretary of IDUN; as well as community leaders Ozo Njoagwani, Zeal Ugbode, Ekene Isiekwe, and Anita Okonta.
