In line with their commitment to corporate social responsibility, Underground Mining Alliance (UMA), which operates as a subcontractor for Newmont Ahafo Mines, has contributed medical equipment and supplies worth GH₵104,358 to two CHPS compounds located within the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region.
The beneficiary facilities situated in Goaum Koforidua and Kramokrom were provided with six hospital beds along with mattresses, two delivery kits, four examination tables, two blood pressure machines, one resuscitation table, four medicine carts, digital thermometers, three sterilization barrels, an autoclave machine, surgical gloves, ten rolls of cotton wool, twenty boxes of examination gloves, and twenty boxes of face masks, amongst other items.
During the handover event held in Goaum Koforidua, Peter Osei Mensah, who represents UMA as the project manager, emphasized the organization’s dedication to enhancing healthcare services within its operating regions. “Our presence extends beyond mining; we aim to guarantee that local populations receive high-quality medical attention,” he expressed. Additionally, he encouraged healthcare professionals to maintain and utilize the provided resources effectively for their designated roles.
On behalf of the two facilities, Asutifi North District Disease Control Officer, Salaam Dam-Park Laar, received the items and conveyed his appreciation to UMA. He highlighted that this donation would significantly improve their services.
Gloria Baah Yeboah, who oversees the Goaum Koforidua CHPS Compound, called upon various organizations and individuals to lend their support to the facility. She emphasized the critical need for furniture such as tables and chairs for the outpatient department (OPD), a scanner for maternal care services, and accommodations for the staff members.
