On Thursday, May 1, The Oil Dome at Royal House Chapel in Accra was converted into a place of worship, where prayers were lifted up and inspiring stories shared among thousands attending the 2025 iteration of the Family Consecration Service. This event, organized by Citi FM with assistance from Channel One TV, attracted numerous participants seeking spiritual enrichment.

As early as 6 a.m., people began flooding into the Dome, including families, couples, solo visitors, and whole church congregations, all lured by a shared aspiration: to find spiritual guidance, healing, and fortitude for their households and the coming year.

What followed was six hours of deep worship, fervent intercession, and emotional encounters with God, leaving many overwhelmed by the experience.

“Spiritually Transformative”

Described by many as
“spiritually transformative”
, the service was led by Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Ghana, and supported by a team of seasoned ministers, including Rev. Fred Mac-Davies, Rev. Mawuli Tsikata, Rev. Foster Mawuli Benson, Rev. Nelson Awintia, and Rev. Michael Noagbewonu.

Special prayers were lifted for marriages, health, financial breakthrough, national peace, and reconciliation within families. For many, it was more than just a religious event—it was a divine appointment.

I have been attending this program for many years, and each time, some aspect of my life improves,” shared one attendee. “My marriage and the arrival of my daughter can both be traced back to insights gained here. I think this event should occur biannually.

Another attendee shared, “This service was very fulfilling. Citi FM and Channel One TV have done so well. We need this more often in our nation.”

A young man in attendance described it as “amazing,” saying, “I had the chance to pour my heart out to God on matters I’ve struggled with silently for years. I can’t wait for the next one.”

Marriages Rededicated to God

The most touching part of the day occurred during the vow renewal ceremony for married couples, where spouses held hands, gazed into each other’s eyes, and renewed their promises before God and those present.

The air was thick with emotions—as some shed tears while reaffirming their vows to love, honor, and treasure each other.

Heading up the ceremony, Reverend Wengam emphasized to the couples the sanctity of marriage:

Wedding isn’t merely the joining of two individuals; it’s the foundation of society itself. By renewing your vows, you reaffirm your commitment to serving as role models for love and harmony.

The pledge reaffirmation transformed into a powerful gesture of recovery and cohesion for numerous households, providing optimism during an era when the concept of matrimony encounters escalating difficulties.

Kicking off Family Month with Intent

The Family Consecration Service also signified the formal inauguration of
Family Month
—A complete month of programming by Channel One TV and Citi FM aimed at fostering robust family values rooted in affection, belief, and harmony.

For many years, the Family Consecration Service has been an essential part of the Christian tradition in Ghana. This year’s attendance and personal accounts suggest that its importance is increasing even further.

Amidst a country grappling with financial instability, societal pressures, and ethical dilemmas, the 2025 Family Consecration Service provided an enduring and essential offering: faith, hope, and the reminder that resilient families continue to be the bedrock of a robust community.

As one participant succinctly expressed, “Today’s occurrence wasn’t merely an event; it served as a reminder of our top priorities.”
