The farmers and employees at Chemilil and Muhoroni Sugar Companies can now look forward to better times ahead with a new leadership taking over, bringing a promising era of change and renewal.

Was Kibos Sugar Company acquired by Chemilil?

The newly appointed Agriculture Cabinet secretary, Mutahi Kagwe, announced that Kibos Sugar and Allied Industries Limited has officially assumed control of Chemelil Sugar Company.

He mentioned that this acquisition happened following a competitive leasing process that came to an end.

Jassi Chatthe, the director of Kibos Sugar, has officially assumed control of the beleaguered company.

To gain deeper insights into the workings, he convened meetings with staff members and nearby farmers at the facility. Throughout his tour, Chatthe laid out strategies for rejuvenating the business, which has encountered persistent challenges in its day-to-day functioning.

In the meantime, the Muhoroni Sugar Factory has been formally handed over to new leadership under the West Valley Sugar Company.

The handover ceremony was overseen by the factory’s receiver manager, Harun Kirui, and accepted by West Valley Chairman, Alfred Soi.

The newly appointed leadership group has pledged to back nearby sugarcane growers through prompt financial support, providing sufficient fertilizer, and bringing in high-output cane types.

The employees at the plant have been informed that the changeover will proceed without complications, and they can anticipate an expansion of employment prospects as production efficiency is projected to enhance.

The acquisition has garnered excitement among both employees and agriculturalists, who have shown hope for a more prosperous tomorrow.

The employees greeted the administration’s choice to privatize the sugar mills with enthusiasm, thinking it could rejuvenate the local economy.

Elizabeth Yego, who speaks on behalf of the Principal Secretary for Agriculture, Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh, was present at the event and observed the handover.
