The Invest in African Energy (IAE) 2025 Forum is delighted to share that Zimbabwe’s Minister of Energy and Power Development, July Moyo, will be giving a keynote speech at their upcoming gathering in Paris next month. This presentation will focus on the nation’s key energy goals and potential areas for investment. The minister’s involvement represents a pivotal point for Zimbabwe as it seeks to propel its energy industry towards significant expansion driven primarily by private enterprises.
Following Zimbabwe’s recent global initiatives to draw investments into its energy industry, Minister Moyo has joined these endeavors. These efforts include top-tier meetings designed to present a transparent strategy for updating infrastructure and underscore the critical importance of private funding in overcoming gaps within the country’s facilities. Given that a significant segment of the populace remains without electrical access and consumption rates exceed production levels, Zimbabwe is urgently pursuing collaborative alliances to implement dependable, eco-friendly, and varied energy options.

In order to achieve both immediate and future objectives, the government has adopted a two-pronged strategy: reviving coal-powered stations to ensure stable domestic electricity supplies in the short term, while also speeding up investments in renewable resources. The nation’s energy plan prominently features initiatives for harnessing solar and wind power, aiming to construct extensive solar facilities and sell surplus power to nearby nations. Collaborating with Zambia, Zimbabwe is investigating the potential of installing floating solar installations on Lake Kariba—a venture supported by a recently secured $250 million loan from the African Export-Import Bank aimed at developing a 250 MW project set for completion by mid-2026—indicative of a move towards advanced, environmentally resilient infrastructures.
In his keynote address, Minister Moyo will highlight present investment prospects within power production, distribution networks, and decentralized electricity solutions. Additionally, he will discuss regulatory adjustments and policies aimed at drawing in private power providers and overseas investments. The minister’s attendance underscores Zimbabwe’s dedication to collaborating with worldwide entities for reshaping its energy sector and ensuring sustained energy stability. Furthermore, Zimbabwe’s involvement in the IAE 2025 event aligns with the conference’s overarching objective of linking Africa’s energy sectors with global financial backers, project developers, and key collaborators.
