champion independent youth aspirations nationally
Mr. Sherif Ghali, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs (GCYE), has been appointed to serve on the Governing Board of the National Youth Authority (NYA).
As a representative for independent youth organizations nationwide, Mr. Ghali takes on this crucial position to guarantee that young people’s perspectives are substantially integrated into the development of national policies and programs aimed at youths.
During the formal launch of the Board, Minister George Opare Addo from the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment urged the members to offer strategic direction and steadfast support to the Authority.
He emphasized the Board’s part in implementing significant national projects, particularly the National Apprenticeship Program (NAP). This program is central to the President’s strategy for decreasing youth unemployment and providing Ghanaian youths with hands-on, employable skills.
The Minister urged the Board to show leadership in achieving this vision and in reinforcing structures that promote youth development.
Mr. Ghali comes to this position with extensive experience in fostering entrepreneurial spirit, shaping policies, and empowering young people. One of his main duties on the board will involve collaborating with other members to establish the Ghana Youth Federation, a much-anticipated national organization designed to unite youth groups across the country, as stipulated in the National Youth Authority Act of 2016 (Act 939).
This program will act as a cohesive framework for various youth-oriented organizations, enhancing their combined impact on national policies and growth initiatives.
Upon being appointed, Mr. Ghali commented: “It is both an honor and a serious responsibility to represent the independent voices of young people at such a high level of governance.”
I am dedicated to ensuring full representation of youth organizations operating beyond conventional political or institutional frameworks within national dialogues. I will actively promote the establishment of the Ghana Youth Federation and support the successful implementation of initiatives such as the NAP, which aim to genuinely empower young individuals.
The GCYE offers its congratulations to Mr. Ghali and reaffirms its backing for initiatives aimed at fostering comprehensive, open, and effective youth development frameworks in Ghana.
