Liam Payne left behind money, property and possessions worth more than £24m when he died last year, official records show.
The ex-One Direction vocalist passed away in Argentina during October without having a will in place.
If an individual passes away without leaving a will, the regulations dictate that any offspring would typically inherit the deceased’s assets in the absence of a surviving spouse, civil partner, or husband/wife. Payne was unmarried; however, he and former Girls Aloud vocalist Cheryl had a son named Bear, who is currently nine years old.
Payne’s partner of over two years, Cheryl, along with music industry attorney Richard Bray, has been appointed as an administrator of his estate. While they are responsible for handling the finances, their current powers are restricted, and they do not have permission to disburse funds at this time.
Payne passed away at the age of 31 following a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.
His passing sent shockwaves through the music industry and stunned the countless fans of One Direction, one of the biggest pop sensations of the 2010s.
The probate records indicate that the aggregate gross worth of his estate amounted to £28.6 million; however, this figure decreased to £24.3 million once liabilities and costs were accounted for.
Tweedy and Bray have received a restricted authorization for representation, termed “necessary to empower the administrator with the authority to safeguard the deceased’s assets until a comprehensive grant is issued.”
