Ghanaians and the rest of the world return to work last week Tuesday, after the Easter festivities with a new attitude towards celebrating the event, focusing rather on improving lives and wealth creation.
Despite being a Christian celebration, virtually everyone participated, particularly relishing the connected public holidays.
The idea and teachings behind Easter are incredibly significant and captivating, not only from a cultural standpoint but also in terms of their relevance to national progress and cohesion.
Easter is widely recognized as the commemoration of Christ Jesus’ suffering, death, burial, and resurrection approximately two thousand and eighteen years ago.
Despite occurring ages past, the importance and influence of this event remain unparalleled. Its relevance persists just as strongly as when it first transpired.
Frequently, participants in this holy occasion mistakenly focus more on the happiness and festivities surrounding it and tend to overlook the essential aspects it represents.
The recently concluded Kwahu Business Forum seems poised to transform Easter celebrations in the nation by shifting the focus towards business-related activities, particularly at the heart of these festivities.
President John Mahama has commended this transformative shift in how the occasion is observed, moving away from mere festivity towards focusing on national progress via robust business and entrepreneurial strategies.
Consequently, he has advocated for robust economic strategies aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and cultivating a vibrant commercial atmosphere in Ghana. In a Facebook update, the President reminisced about his visit to Kwahu during the Easter celebrations and praised the enterprising mindset and commitment demonstrated by regional business figures.
Expressing his appreciation to Kwahu’s business leaders, CEO’s, and heads of financial institutions for their dedication to fostering economic progress, President Mahama likewise showed joy over the shift in attention from festive activities during Easter to concentrating on business strategies. This observation was clearly linked to his attendance at the two-day Kwahu Business Forum.
As we keep celebrating Easter, it’s essential to fully grasp all facets of this significant event, understand them clearly, and apply their teachings substantially in our everyday lives as both believers and members of society.
The first aspect is the suffering endured by Savior Christ Jesus, which came before comprehensive pain. As He bore the sins of humanity upon Himself, tormented and mistreated by His own people, we should grasp the core significance of suffering in our lives.
Enduring various forms of pain is an integral aspect of being human. Embracing this reality is crucial for our existence. Should individuals grasp this concept, they would likely abandon numerous easy paths through life—paths that often lead to corruption and promote quick wealth mentality.
The crucifixion of Jesus Christ represented an unparalleled offering to humanity. Making sacrifices is a crucial aspect of being a citizen. As residents of Ghana, we should strive to make such offerings for our nation, often referred to as Mother Ghana.
Our ancestors endured great hardships, with some risking their very lives. Observing Easter would lack significance if we do not embrace the element of sacrifice within it.
His passing and interment instruct us to let go of our former flawed ways and harmful mindsets. Similarly, we should lay to rest every detrimental inclination that hinders societal progress and cohesion. This includes tardiness at workplaces and events, indifference, theft, and dishonesty, amongst other adverse behaviors.
Following the observance of Easter, individuals should expect to face scrutiny from coworkers and relatives who assume that they have left behind their old habits entirely. To avoid falling into repetitive errors as we strive towards achieving national cohesion and progress, this necessitates thorough introspection.
As the saying goes, making a mistake is not an error, but undoubtedly, repeating a mistake is indeed an error.
When this is achieved, then the resurrection will be meaningful to us as a nation.
The resurrection signifies triumph across every facet of our personal and collective existence. Easter serves as an emblem of hope and comprehensive rejuvenation for a fresh beginning.
Let the joy and the merrymaking, and in some cases the prayers said, the conventions and the church attendance during the just-ended Easter be translated into the very practical means of real national development and unity.
It was high time we concentrated on developing business strategies during such a joyous event. Celebrations play a significant role in our lives, particularly during holidays. Transforming the spirit of merriment during Easter celebrations into profitable commercial opportunities has become more essential now than at any point before.
The citizens and the business community in the Kwahu area have led the way by redirecting Easter activities into business initiatives. There is so much to look out for when we want to be serious with business as people. Organisation of Easter-themed tour packages, especially for local and international tourists, to boost tourism and hospitality services.

The Upcoming Trends in Business: The Financial Sector’s Part,
The event hosted at the Mpraeso Social Centre within the Kwahu South Municipality of the Eastern Region, led by President John Mahama, brought together various stakeholders to engage in discussions about realizing his ambition for Ghana to become a prominent center for businesses. This gathering also sought to promote entrepreneurship and bolster the development of Ghana’s Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
It is expected that comparable platforms will be set up across the nation during these celebratory events to engage with a larger customer base. This commendable effort could aid in attracting investments to the country’s commercial sector. He mentioned that he has welcomed quite a few guests at his booth which was located near the venue of the Forum.
This is due to clear signs that the event has greatly expanded the community by drawing in government officials and financial institutions. In Honorable Julious Debrah’s words, who serves as the Chief of Staff and is referred to as “the president’s co-conspirator,” the upcoming Kwahu Business Forum will be even larger and improved—approximately five times bigger than this year’s gathering.
The government has the responsibility to ensure this captivating proposal evolves into an annual nationwide celebration.
It is obvious that this development could have a positive impact on the local economy of Kwahu, particularly the hospitality and tourism sectors within the enclave.
The great gift of Easter is hope – Christian hope which makes us have that confidence that all will be well with Ghana in an ultimate triumph, and in the goodness and love for all.
